CRV Materials

Most beverage packages qualify as CRV materials as long as they are stamped “CA Cash Refund” or other label variations. CRV materials include aluminum, glass, plastic and bi-metal containers. For aluminum cans recycling, plastic bottles recycling and more, OC Recycling is here.

In order to receive the California Redemption Value (CRV), cans must be stamped “CA Cash Refund”.

Plastic #1 bottles must be labeled “CA Cash Refund”

Glass bottles must be labeled “CA Cash Refund”. Generally Soda, and Water, and Beer qualify, but Liquor, or Wine do not. We do accept all glass bottles even Non CRV, however we cannot receive: sheet glass cook or corning wear.

Plastic bottles #1-7 must be labeled “CA Cash Refund” or a similar CRV message printed by the bottler. Generally Juice, and Water Jugs qualify, but Milk jugs do not.

Detergent, or other colored bottles do not say CA CRV and we do not accept them. The only colored HDPE bottles we accept are CA CRV. The above picture shows the different kinds, some are accepted and some are not, depending on whether they say CRV on them or not.

Non-Ferrous Metals

OC Recycling accepts all non-ferrous metals, including copper, aluminum, brass, and stainless steel, in all forms, such as radiators, window frames, wires, and more. Check out the images below for examples of non-ferrous metal objects we have recycled.

Aluminum:

Litho Sheet: This is commonly used in printing shops and is sheetlike in appearance.

Cast aluminum can be produced using several different casting processes that include sand, permanent mold, die, lost foam, or squeeze. Common products will be found with engine parts, transmissions as well as other not so common products. Cast can be bought as clean as long as all forien material has been removed, if not it could be bought as a breakage.

There are many grades of aluminum turnings. These products are generally the byproduct of Milling and Manufacturing with aluminum solid materials. It’s important to keep track of the allow the turnings came from.

Often looks like cast aluminum, but is much heavier. Typically Matchbox cars, Fan blade mounts, low grade bath tub spouts, and other similar materials are made of die-cast.

A common conductor found in different gauged wire that is shielded with a rubber or plastic outer layer. The aluminum used in most of this product is no less than 99.5% pure giving it a high value if it’s stripped of it’s outer shield.

Casting alloys containing more than 5% foreign material are divided into high or low recovery. This item is commonly found in aluminum engines and transmission parts but also used in other products.

Any solid pieces of aluminum without paint or contamination.

These are usually aluminm window frames. No paint, glue, screws or contamination. Annodized brown, gold, black, and other shades are accepted as clean.

These are usually aluminum window frames. Paint and light glue OK. No screws or contamination allowed. No concrete chunks or thick glue deposits. 6063 material with heavy concrete / glue contamination will be graded as 5% contamination.

Brass:

Red Brass is non magnetic, and reddish yellow in color. Typical red brass items are heavy plumbing valves.

Yellow Brass is non magnetic, and yellow incolor. Typical brass items are Lamps, Faucets, plumbing parts, decorative items, bullet shells and many other items.

Often looks like Red Brass, but is slightly lighter in color and weight. Composed of Bronze and Aluminum Mixed together.

High-Temperature Alloys (Hi-Temp)

High-temperature alloys are mostly used in the military, medical and electronics fields. At OC Recycling we recycle various high-temperature alloys including titanium, carbide, inconel and k-monel.

Electronics (E-Waste)

At OC Recycling we specialize in all kinds of e-waste recycling. Our recycling program goes beyond the ordinary e-waste recycling that usually includes items like computer monitors and televisions. We accept old car batteries, transformers, motors, and more. Check out the images below for examples on the different e-waste recycling we have done through the years.

Ferrous Metals

Ferrous metals can be found on home appliances such as refrigerators and washing machines.

At OC Recycling we accept ferrous metals as a recyclable material, as seen on the images below.

Fibers

OC Recycling is the place for all kinds of paper and cardboard recycling. Because we offer recycling services for both the public and businesses, fibers including paper and cardboard recycling is one of our specialties.

In order to comply with existing Federal and local safety and environmental laws and/or regulations, and to ensure environmental responsibility, OC Recycling cannot accept the following materials:

Any radioactive materials or containers.
Tanks, vessels and containers of all sizes unless they are certified to be clean, and are cut in half prior to arrival at our facility.
Gasoline tanks unless they are punctured and fully drained, oil filters of any kind. Engine blocks containing free flowing liquids.
Any item containing PCBS’s (Polychlorinated Biphenyls) ex: ballasts, Capacitors, Wet Transformers, or any item with a label stating the presence of PCB’s.
Rubber, wood, glass (other than bottle glass), or other debris.
Wet or dry capacitors, light ballast and electrical transformers or transformer components that may contain PCB’s, (Dry, Non-PCB Containing transformers are acceptable).
Asbestos or asbestos containing materials.
Air bag canisters.
Military scrap of any kind unless it is inspected and approved in advance.
Railroad scrap unless accompanied with the appropriate ownership documentation.
Any explosives or explosive materials.
Universal waste lamps including, but not limited to, fluorescent, high-intensity discharge, neon, mercury vapor, high-pressure sodium, and metal halide lamps.
Waste elemental mercury, including mercury switches.
Compressed gas cylinders, propane tanks including propane bottles unless valves are removed or cylinder is cut in half.
Steel cables and wire greater than 5 feet in length.
Oils, including petroleum products and petroleum by-products.
Any other hazardous materials, or hazardous waste.
